Recycled products are catching up much attention these days. With recycled elements being introduced in many products, old products and furniture at home can be amazingly modified to new products.
Some of the gorgeous modifications done to recycle old doors are as following:
One of the best uses of old door includes turning them into mirrors. A large sized mirror can be fitted into the inner frame of the door. For decoration, fix a textured wall covering on the upper panel of the door. Trim the edges of the door to give it some beautification. Paint can be applied to fit it according to the aesthetic appeal of the house where it is to be kept.
Carving out another piece of furniture from an old door is really a good idea. The sofa created here is a classic example of recycling. Cushions were left out from recently broken down couch. The doors were cut appropriately for cushion size. Surface of the door was smoothened using sand paper. Two doors were to make the back and side of the sofa. Make sure all the screws of the doors are tightly in place to prevent any loose ends. Mahogony-colored polyurethane was applied all over and left to dry. Finally, small side arm rests were cut of cushions.
An outdoor bench with a backrest is a good use for an old door. The back here consists of one door and the seats and base are cut out of another door. Fixing them is easy using regular nails and hammer and ready to serve.
Here the bookshelf has been made using some additional products like poly, glue and screws. Grooves have been made at appropriate distances to fit in the shelves with necessary glue added for proper fixation. Base here can be made of wooden rectangular log with grooves to fit in the door to make it stand upright.
A table is the easiest of all modification, which can be realized by utilizing a door. All you need is any type of sawhorse, be it three legged two pieces or a regular four-legged sawhorse. These are available in metal ones and also can be built using wood. Metal ones will be available with a nearby hardware shop. Just need to put the cleaned and slightly refurbished table on the top of it and fix it using screws in metal sawhorses or nails in wooden sawhorses. You would love the old and rugged look of the door. So it’s not necessary to get it painted.
