Scott Garner, the Texan born and bred designer is now allowing the New Yorkers to enjoy his creative genius. From interactive gallery pieces to complex industrial designs, he has been quite expressive and inspirational in his works. Now this time, he has created a drum machine that relies on a veggie circuit to produce musical beats.
Dubbed as BeetBox, the drum machine combines audio beats with safe-to-eat beet. Garner created his machine for a tech-crafts assignment at the NYU. Powered by a Raspberry Pi, the BeetBox converts the information from the sensor chip into audible sounds. It does so by allowing the beets to “cause a quantifiable change in the flow of electrons”.
Neatly packed within a hardwood case, the circuit communicates with veggie components to deliver rock music. Surprisingly functional? Yes, it is undeniably surprising.
