Sustainability has nothing to do with complex designs that, in place of encouraging eco conscious customers to think of adopting them, force them to question their very conception. Designed by Eddie Licitra, the Radial is a simple table lamp that doesn’t involve any intricate mechanisms to deliver sustainable illumination. Rather, it focuses majorly on recycled and recyclability aspects of the components that create it. Furthermore, the bio-inspired lamp derives its design inspiration from mushroom’s light modifiers.
The organic, low-impact table lamp flaunts a recycled chipboard structure that envelopes an Ikea bulb fixture inside it. Aside from providing a robust exterior, the chipboard structure also allows for diffusion of light. As designer puts it, the body is packed and sold flat, which is further press-fitted without any use of adhesives as such. Moreover, the lamp body is perfectly recyclable. So, when you feel like that Radial has served you enough, you can allow its components to biodegrade without causing any nuisance to the environs.
