Organograph: Solar powered kinetic sculpture reveals hidden nuances of climate change

Organograph solar powered kinetic sculpture

Conceived and created by artists Geo Homsy, Chico MacMurtie and Bill Washabaugh for an international art competition, the Organograph is a 10 feet tall, solar powered kinetic sculpture. It, actually, is a working model of a futuristic, larger climate clock. If the model succeeds in garnering enough response and funds, the artifact may replicate itself into a functional apparatus that could project Earth’s carbon cycle and the causes behind it.

Displayed at San Jose City Hall, the amazing model will go functional with its proposed mega, eight stories high installation at the transit gateway at Diridon San Jose Station. When installed, the artwork would calculate fluctuations in greenhouse gas levels and will continue providing data forever. As MercuryNews puts it, a 75-foot interactive sculpture, allowing users to investigate, observe and respond to climate change, will accompany the installation.
