Increasing water pollution has prompted the scientists in the United States and Australia to moot a plan for a worldwide network to monitor water quality. The US Government seems equally concerned with the issue and according to reports; a $300 million proposal will be put to the Bush administration later this year.
United States Science Foundation professor Jerry Schnoor revealed that the proposed global environmental observatory would have the latest robotic and satellite technology at its disposal to monitor water quality.
Professor Schnoor said,
To try to give warning to people prior to environmental events such as harmful algae blooms or even pathogens coming into a water supply.
