In the past one month, storms have already killed 170 people in southern China. This also led 1.6 million people flee from their homes, to escape the violent nature, as reported by a state-run newspaper.
The province is experiencing torrential rain continuously since last May. And this has triggered mudslides and floods in the coastal provinces like Fujian and Guangdong, all the way inland to Hunan and Sichuan.
The highest number of deaths occurred in Fujian and Guizhou provinces, with the rainstorms killing 98 people, according to the China Daily newspaper. To add to this, two rainstorms in the past three weeks in the Guangxi region have killed 21 people, the paper reported.
Mud-flows and landslides have led to the evacuation of about 195,500 people.
