With their aim to assess the practicality of their designs, we often see designers coming up with impressive concepts to inspire eco-minded souls at the Red Dot Award. While most product ideas fail to make their impression, some practical designs ask for their speedy realization for sure. Conceived by designers Alain Lee, Chen Wei-Huah and Chen Lada, the RCS (Reusing Carton Standard) is one such inspiring green packaging system that features cardboard carton symbols to suggest various ways to reuse a carton before it ends up in a landfill.
As a common practice, we never think of reusing packaging; instead, what we do is throw it away or put it in a recycle bin. The Reusing Carton Standard designed for PEGATRON, however, allows packaging box to be more attractive by integrating it with graphic design. The RCS (Reusing Carton Standard) flaunts certain patterns to remind consumers about reusing the carton by morphing the same into appealing usable or decorative stuff.
