What you see in the above image is an amazing musical instrument created from redundant weapons. Artist Pedro Reyes has created several such functional, musical instruments to appease the musician in him. Aside from altering the literal implications of the raw material used, the artist emphasizes on the need of recycling and thus, he allows readers to see the greener side of the otherwise destructive firearms.
Through his sheer talent, Pedro, the Mexican artist, provided fine, aesthetic touches to about 7,000 firearms. Now, the otherwise destructive weapons have reincarnated as 50 musical instruments, as a part of the project ‘Imagine’. Commissioned by Alumnos 47, the artist and his group of six musicians had to work for two weeks to gather discarded weapons and shape them into musical instruments that could actually produce amazing music.
