Climate change brings new options for UK farming

helping tea plantations bloom

Amid the fearful gruesome aftereffects of climate change, like threat of new insects and diseases, the scientists are predicting that it will also provide many new opportunities for British farmers — like tea and energy crops, according to a British government minister.

Junior environment minister Ian Pearson said,

We want to see farmers seize opportunities for new crops that a changing climate is going to bring… Farmers have grown the first tea crop in Cornwall which has sold for high prices in the London shops.

He also added that maize, sunflower and soybeans may be grown in Britain under some future climate change scenarios.
