Supreme Court Bans Indian Media Over 'Toxic' Aircraft Carrier

clemenceauWe know the French aircraft carrier, Clemenceau, is decommissioned. It was on its way to Alang ship-breaking yard in the western Indian state of Gujarat. All got to know these from the media.

But, be it print, online or audio-visuals or audio – all media has temporarily been banned of all demonstrations and media articles by the Supreme Court of India. The ban runs until Friday. And anyone breaking it will be held in contempt of court, Judge Arijit Pasayat informed.

The defence ministry is also asked by the court to form a panel to assess the amount of toxic waste on the ship. It is until Friday, the French aircraft, lined with asbestos has been told to stay away from Indian waters.
