Some lands on earth may pose some of the greatest extinction dangers
for wildlife in the future. Though apparently, from the frigid northern
Canada and Alaska to tropical Asian islands seem safe for the wild life
to romp around, it may lead to their destruction one day!
Animals with a relatively small geographic range are particularly in
peril, including those that have a large body mass and reproduce
slowly. Regions where there was a high “latent extinction risk” for
non-marine mammals, often areas that have had little human impact so
far are identified by the researchers. These findings are reported in
the online edition of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
