New dinosaur species unearthed: Is it the largest meat-eating dinosaur?

mapusaurus roseae

The red sandstone of Patagonia has given us with another new dinosaur species to get marveled at. Unearthed at Patagonia, it is one of the largest known carnivorous dinosaurs. Naming it naming Mapusaurus roseae, paleontologists reported to have found the fossils of seven to nine individuals of a species.

An adult of the species exceeded 40 feet in length, as showed by an analysis of the bones. According to the discoverers, this species was slightly larger than specimens of both its close relative — Giganotosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus rex. But, this is still debated as some scientists still think that a Spinosaurus species from North Africa is the largest meat-eating dinosaur.
