Greenland Declares Quota to Save (or Kill?!) Polar Bears

polar bear5

Polar bears, according to scientists, are already threatened by the effects of global warming. But, Greenland’s government on Wednesday introduced the ice-capped island’s first hunting quota for polar bears. Though this declaring quota is apparently portraying concerns for the bears, is allocating even a quota really justified?

According to Greenland’s fishing and hunting directory, the figure for 2006 was set at 150 animals – why not mercy these 150 lives too and why is the quota not set to 200 either? The scientists may have convincing explanations for this, but, the bears don’t have an excuse (right) to survive either?
