Global warming growing mountains taller

european alps

Scientists has for long, blamed global warming fort he increasing rate of glacier melting. But, do you know that the Earth’s crust flexes inward slightly when glaciers gets heavy, and springs back with their disappearance?

Based on these phenomena, the European Alps have been growing since the end of the last little Ice Age in 1850! It is when glaciers began shrinking with the temperatures’ warming. But, with global warming being sped up in recent years, the rate of the glacier’s melt also accelerated. This, in turn has accelerated mountains’ rate of growing taller.
