Fossils reveal Australia's ferocious past!

Recently, a team of researchers from the University of New South Wales — working in the eastern state of Queensland – dug out a ferocious past of Australia! Three new fossil deposit-discoveries made recently by paleontologists revealed that cuddly koalas, hoards of flesh-eating kangaroos, “demon ducks,” and marsupial lions romped the outback of Australia.

The largely unknown species uncovered in the dig consists of a saber-toothed kangaroo and a giant 10-foot-tall, 881-pound bird. The scientists nicknamed it as the ‘demon duck of doom’.

Many of the fossils discovered are older than 24 million years. Even one of these deposits is thought to contain fossils up to 500 million years old! Prof. Mike Archer, the university’s dean of science informed.
