According to the state media, the practice of using chicken excrement to feed fish in Ho Chi Minh City of southern Vietnam is threatening millions of people with bird flu. And it needs to be stopped immediately.

At least 100 tonnes of chicken excrement are thrown into Tri An lake each day. The worst part of it is that the lake’s water flows into Dong Nai River, running through the country’s biggest city. Chicken excrement is one of the main carriers of the H5N1 virus, which can survive in a cool and wet environment for a month and slightly less if in water, Le Hoang Sang, deputy director of the Ho Chi Minh City’s Pasteur Institute said. An immediate action should be taken against it.
