California condors were spotted nesting in the northern part of the state! They are seen for the first time in more than 100 years! – According to scientists. It was on Monday, the condor couple was found displaying typical nesting behavior inside a hollowed-out redwood tree in Big Sur, Ventana Wildlife Society informed Tuesday. Big Sur is a mountainous coastal region south of Monterey.
The conservationists and environmentalists are the happiest people to hear this news, as scientists have worked for years to bring the condor back from the brink of extinction.
Kelly Sorenson, the group’s executive director said, “For the past 10 years when this sort of thing came up, it turned out to be just in my dreams… Now it is a reality.”
