The amphibians play a major role in the food chain by consuming insects. Apart from that, they also have great medical potential! A compound found in frogs could yield a painkiller that is 200 times more potent than morphine. Even skin of some frog appears to inhibit HIV infection!
The alarmed biologists are taking all necessary steps to save some of the most endangered species. They are using temporary tanks in hotel rooms and people’s houses in some areas to prevent their disappearance from the world.
According to The Chicago Tribune, one biologist addresses this alarming phenomenon as, ‘one of the largest extinction spasms for vertebrates in history!’
