5,000 Water Birds May Be Killed By The Estonian Oil Slick

The Estonia oil slick is endangering as many as 5,000 birds! Shores of northwest Estonia is got soaked with thick oil slick, which may lead to this mass killing that includes swans and a rare breed of duck, environmentalists in the Baltic state said. Reportedly about 20 tonnes oil spilled across the slope stretch, which was initially believed to have a limited impact! Further reports from bird watchers have confirmed the feared magnitude of the happening deaths.

“The oil has coated the feathers of many birds including swans and the rare long-tailed duck, which summers in Sweden and Norway and winters in Estonian waters,” said Estonian Fund For Nature spokeswoman Kristel Toom.
