Every year, we witness artists participating in the pART PROJECT competition with their aim to create inventive creations out of a box of 100 bike components given to each artist. The Chicago-based bicycle parts company SRAM has been quite instrumental in providing eco artists a viable platform to display their talent. Just like previous years, the creations will be adjudged by a jury and will hit the auction block at a live event in New York.
The proceeds will be given as charity to the World Bicycle Relief, a foundation that helps people in underprivileged areas gain access to bicycles.
Over 80 artists have created unique sculptures and abstract collages from upcycled bicycle components. A robotic ostrich, certain surrealistic creatures and so on – the creations lend a fresh lease of life to bike gears and chains. On November, 2012, SRAM will auction off bike part creations at Cedar Lake Theater in New York.
