San Andreas overdue for a devastating quake

san andreas fault2

The southern end of the San Andreas Fault is overdue with a major, rather devastating earthquake. This zone is located near Los Angeles, confirmed by a new earthquake research.

Analyzing 20 years of data, the new study is considered as one of the most detailed analyses ever made. The research found that stress has been building up for the last 20 years — and the fault could rupture any moment!

Te impact of the quake would be huge, but the scientists are not being able to predict the exact time when it might happen. Geophysicist, Yuri Fialko of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla informed,

The southern section of the fault is fully loaded for the next big event.
