When the world has focused its attention on the hundreds of people died and still dying in the 3-week-old conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, the battle of power is quietly driving the surrounding towards disaster – perhaps a point of no return!

The oil spills caused by the Israeli bombing has killed endangered turtles, just after been hatched from their eggs. Floating dead fish off the coast is a common scene there. Some 110,000 barrels of oil is reported to have been poured into the Mediterranean two weeks ago, following the hitting of the Israeli warplanes on a coastal power plant.

We have nothing else to do, then to just wait and watch the environmental devastations as the UN too seems to be helpless — until the fighting stops – in the business of cleaning up. By then, many endangered marine species may disappear from the planet, like the turtle.
