Horse Slaughter Permitted in U.S., Defying Recent Law!

The decision that allowed three foreign-owned processing plants to continue slaughtering horses for meat runs counter to a measure signed into U.S. law last November. Politicians and animal-welfare activists are up with their dissenting arms against this decision of the U.S Department of Agriculture.

That the three foreign-owned processing plants will be allowed to continue slaughtering horses for meat was announced by the U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently, this week. The slaughterhouses-two in Texas and one in Illinois is reported to kill a combined total of 70,000 to 90,000 horses each year! And they sell the meat overseas as a delicacy and in the U.S. as food for zoo animals.
