Yesterday we told you about the Recycled Pallet Pavilion – a 100 square foot pavilion made from diamond-shaped recycled pallets. Now this time, we’ve yet another pavilion installed in Granada, Spain, that sprawls across 450sqm and is entirely made from more than 45,000 recycled tetrabriks or milk cartons. When commissioned by the Department of Environment of the Government of Granada and the waste recycling company RESUR to explore the constructive possibilities of tetrabriks, designers from CUACS Arquitectura and Sugarplatform collaborated to create this pavilion from discarded tetrabriks collected from more than 100 colleges of Granada.

Created to commemorate World Recycling Day, the giant pavilion has registered itself as the world’s largest installation made from recycled stuff in the Guinness Book of World Records. The design team created an amazing mesh of tetrabriks by linking several units together at an angle of 135 degrees using clamps and bridles. Further, the installation flaunts two types of freestanding modules: the WALL and the TOWER. While the WALL serves as a solid foundation, the TOWER acts as a connection to unite slidebases at different angles.

The design team worked for two weeks to create the 30 meters long by 15 meters wide and 7 meters high structure, before it finally moved to the recycling plant.
