In the first half of 2006, the United States experienced the highest ever recorded temperatures in the continent! The January temperatures across the month of June were 3.4 degrees Fahrenheit above the 20th-century average.

The burnt of the record warmth for the period is felt in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri. On the other hand, no state experienced cooler-than-average temperatures, according to NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center scientists in Asheville, N.C.

This finding bolstered the previous finding — 2005 as the warmest year on record for the entire globe.
