Torrential rain triggering floods and landslides, hitting most parts of the world hard, has killed at least three people in Japan, on the southern island of Kyushu. The region worst affected was Kagoshima prefecture. Situated on the southern tip of the island, rain has battered the region in recent days.

In the past week, flooding has killed at least 21 people across Japan. With more rain expected in Kyushu, tens of thousands have been advised to leave their homes. To help with rescue operations, the Japanese military has been called in.
