toxic chemicals

Pollution.net says that the EPA’s recent announcement of a plan to roll back reporting under the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) is the public’s only way to access what toxic chemicals are in their neighborhoods and how such chemicals are being released.

The Climate Ark Blog fears and warns that immediate efforts to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions are absolutely vital to humanity’s survival. It also says, the more we learn about climate change, its rate and its impacts; the more the scale and magnitude of human impact upon global ecological systems becomes apparent.

The Feminist Blog on Environment seems to be annoyed with the White House’s refusal to release papers on John Roberts. It calls his civil rights record as lackluster, as according to the writer Roberts thinks that it’s too easy to prove violations of the Voting Right Act

The LA Weekly Blog quotes Frank A. Albini, a retired research professor of mechanical engineering at Montana State University, Bozeman, who says “I find the extension of the time frame for the Yucca Mountain rules to 1 million years to be absolutely preposterous”. Albini further says, ‘The rules should apply no longer than the current life of the nation, about 200 years. By then, the people of the U.S., if such still exists, will probably not even be able to read, much less interpret, the rules. This is silliness in the extreme.”

Expressed wonderfully in a report, Ecoearth laments that some people can only appreciate the tapestry of life in the world’s remaining large ancient priceless forests, if expressed in economic terms.
