Sydney blackout: An awakening or warning

There are different ways of showing your disgust. Sydney, Australia’s largest city will be plunged into darkness to raise alarm on Global warming. The bomb of global warming is ticking at a very fast pace and it needs gigantic efforts to dispose it of.my earth 246

Saturday will see Sydney in complete darkness for an hour in an attempt at a world first blackout to raise awareness of global warming. Though, the only lights that will be seen glowing will be the streetlights for public safety. The blackout is the brain of WWF, which hopes that such steps would invite rest of the world in uniting against greenhouse gases responsible for Climate change. A number of businesses have signed up, including many of the top blue-chip companies on the Australian stock market – and even McDonald’s is joining in the green campaign by turning off its ‘Golden Arches’ signs. Similar campaign was initiated by Paris last month, dimming lights for five minutes turning off the lights of the Eiffel Tower.

People have also shown immense interest in the campaign. The interest of the public can be clearly seen response the twenty-seven thousand Sydney households have given by registering their support online.
Dubbed as ‘the Earth Hour’, the time for blackout will begin at 7:30 pm (0930 GMT) on March 31. The city will not see light for a record daily blackout for 10 months. Similar experiments could then be carried on by other cities in order to make the world realize the increasing and imminent danger global warming is posing.

Once global warming touches its high, Australia will be hardest hit. Though, it will be a global tragedy for the world as a whole. And it requires similar experiments on the part of everyone to come forward and give his best. It is our utmost duty to protect the earth and the atmosphere because by doing so we will be protecting ourselves. Let us all build a clean and pure world where everyone will breathe freely. No need of masks then.
