Smart Trash Can catches your trash on the move, literally 2

Well, if we consider the agility of the techno trashcan in question that gulps the garbage down in just two flicks of a lamb’s tail (not actually), it’s truly a sustainable innovation. Conceived and brought to its actual shape by Minoru Kurata, the Smart Trash Can deservedly went on to win an Excellence Award at the Japan Media Arts Festival.

As per the excerpt quoted by Diginfo.tv, the Smart Trash Can has an embedded sensor that gathers info about trash’s position and transfers it to a PC. By relying on it programmed setup, the PC presupposes where the trash will fall and communicates its final destination to the can using a wireless connection.

According to Minoru Kurata, he utilized a special mechanism to control wheel rotation and angular difference with a single axis. Moreover, for keeping the center of gravity as low as possible, Minoru made the can narrow, compact and low. He further reveals his plans to patent the technology as he is already receiving inquiries about commercializing the product. However, before he finally does so, he is focusing to improve the success rate of Smart Trash Can, which currently is only 10-20 percent.
