SK to Reinforce Ultra-Low Sulphur Diesel

By the end of this year, you will be able to choose on the sulphur content in the air you are breathing in. We all know that our diesel run cars have no option but as it runs on the road emits lot of sulphur in the air, and we are the one who breath in it. And to add to it, chemical pollutants too, hamper car engine performances. With this concern, the nation’s largest oil refiner, SK Corp has planned to launch ultra-low sulfur diesel late this year. The company claims to have invested 52 billion won ($50 million) in its production units of kerosene and diesel to supply environment-friendlier diesel products with reduced sulphur content.

In an effort to comply with the Environment Protection Law that will be enforced from next year, the local refiner has also spent 64 billion won ($60 million) to update the gasoline production facilities in its Ulsan plant. The new law lowers the acceptable level for sulfur content for gasoline from 130 to 50 ppm and for diesel from 430 to 30 ppm. The revamping of diesel desulphurization units is expected to enable the company to churn out diesel with less than 30 parts per million sulfur content. Our good wishes to SK Corp.
