To add to the relieving predictions for the habitants on the coastal areas – that the 2006 hurricane season won’t be as bad as predicted – hurricane scientists informed that a Katrina-like monster storm is unlikely.
According to the researchers, the number of likely hurricanes will be less this year, reducing to even from nine and intense hurricanes reducing to three from five.
Phillip Klotzbach, lead forecaster for the hurricane research team at Colorado State University said,
The probability of another Katrina-like event is very small.
However there is said to be a 73 percent probability of at least one intense hurricane, capable of making landfall in the United States this year!
