Oversupply of Whale Meat Throws Japan in Dilemma

An irony to the giant water mammals — whale hunting is “a national heritage” in Japan. The country, since then has enticed children with whale burger school lunches, and served a party’s mood with red meat delicacies.

This has gradually opened up business in whale meat, rapidly expanding its whale hunt. But, Japan now, instead of minting hard out of the hunting is in dilemma. Increasing its hunting amount Japan now kills more of the giant mammals than its consumers care to eat!

The result is an unprecedented oversupply of whale meat. Prices — once about $15 a pound — are plunging leaving promoters scramble to get Japanese to eat more whale. With young people put off by the tough, pungent meat older Japanese are reminded of the lean years after the country’s defeat in World War II
