New Zealand Tops World's Environmental Performance

tops worlds environmental performance

Hats off to the geographically diverse and enriched island — New Zealand. It ranks first in the world in environmental performance, according to the Pilot 2006 Environmental Performance Index (EPI). The Index is produced by a team of environmental experts at the environment school at Yale University and the Earth Institute at Columbia University.

And January 26 would be the D-Day for the island. The 2006 EPI will be released on this day at Davos, Switzerland, at the World Economic Forum. EPI ranks Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, and the United Kingdom two to five respectively in the same category. Resulting in strong performance across most of the policy categories, the top-ranked countries all commit significant resources and effort to environmental protection.
