New sea spider species spotted in icy waters near Antarctica

Nature has many more wonders in store, still unexplored. The icy waters near Antarctica is identified with more than 10 new species of spiders, some having legs that span half a meter!

The Australian Antarctic Division collected the creatures from the icy waters around Heard Island, three years back. They have been catalogued just recently, and have been kept on ice until now. Having identified 29 species, with these 10 being new to science, David Staples — a Melbourne researcher — began cataloguing them.

The new sea spider species are soon to be formally described.
