New Satellite to Measure Polar Ice Melt Volume

We are all aware of global warming and its aftermaths. Melting polar ice is the basic to all related forth coming disasters and cataclysms. Hence, to keep a track of the climate change, we require the latest information about the melting polar ice caps. Merely studying the surface of the ice at the poles will not meet the research requirements.
Unfortunately, the scientific community has been able to do just that so far. Sufficient information about the changes in their volume is necessary. To make the ends meet, the European Space Agency, ESA will be launching the CryoSat II satellite within three years. For this, the ESA will require the European member states to make a new financial contribution in December, to maintain the program.
