New bill takes large-scale logging deep into the Amazon rain forest

to be monitors themselves 9

Loggers in the Amazon can go red with their logging business deep in the forest with a Brazilian government’s plan, which is set to go into effect this year. The government will, for the first time, bring large-scale logging deep into the Amazon rain forest’s heart.

The bill can help the new monitoring efforts to offset any danger of increased devastation.
According to the government’s new policy it would begin auctioning off timber rights to large tracts of the rain forest. It is the Brazil government’s first such attempt. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is doing this to create Brazil’s first coherent, effective forest policy.

Though the government assures that the winning bidders will not be entitled to the land or the right to exploit resources other than timber, it is only time that can reveal how successful the experiment would be!

According to the government, these loggers will be closely monitored and will be paying a royalty on their activities. It also hopes that this plan would help reduce tensions over land ownership in the Amazon.

It is yet to see, if the new policy would be able to reduce losing an area — the size of New Jersey — every year to clear-cutting and timbering.
