Marta Klonowska’s broken glass animals are a treat to watch

Since most of us are not that creative to think of any art form emanating out of broken shards of glass, what we normally do is take measures to avoid any chances of cutting ourselves when we see them scattered around us. Polish artist Marta Klonowska, however, transforms the seemingly dangerous – unless you are not skilled enough to avoid those sharp edges – and dicey material into amazing translucent animal sculptures.

With her aim to make her sculptures attractive enough to engage the viewer, Marta uses colored glass and mixes it with inspiration derived from animals found in romantic paintings, created by Peter Paul Rubens or Francisco de Goya. If you missed your chance to see her art at European Glass Context 2012 in person, what you can now do is visit lorch + seidel contemporary.
