Johanna Tammsalu’s Solid Spin Lamps utilize discarded everyday stuff

Johanna Tammsalu’s Solid Spin Lamp collection utilizes discarded everyday stuff 1

Johanna Tammsalu, the Estonian-born, Spanish-based freelance designer takes his inspiration from everyday objects – lying sprawled across homes and places – to shape up unique lamp designs. His primal matter includes just anything from discarded shoes, reading glasses, to books, mugs, forks, remotes, jugs, etc. The designer was enthralled to perceive that each of these things acquires amazing shapes when revolved their own axis. Accordingly, his latest collection, dubbed as Solid Spin Lamps, includes several such uniquely shaped lamps, made by stacking things on top of each other.

The exceptionally designed lamps flaunt revolutionary shapes that hide original objects inside them. For allowing more exclusivity to his creations, the artist unites related – yet made from different elements – stuff. Tammsalu modified the scale of each designer lamp so that it bears no resemblance to any other in the collection.

Each lamp flaunts three layers, handcrafted on a turntable, which are glued together after few days of airing. The ceramic is later kilned to allow solidity to the lamps. Watch out the gallery to know more about Solid Spin Lamps:
