Hong Kong Grants $4.6 million HK for Ecology

Hong Kong is turning benevolent towards the environment. This is well established by the gestures of a multimillion-dollar environmental conservation scheme approved by the Hong Kong Environment and Conservation Fund last week. It granted a total of 4.6 million HK dollars (about 589,743 US dollars) from the Fund on Oct. 14 to three applications under the Pilot Scheme for Management Agreements. Its objective is to enhance the ecological values of sites in Long Valley and Fung Yuen. The scheme proves to be an important measure under the new Nature Conservation Policy to conserve ecologically important sites under private ownership. The ecological environment will benefit and promote community involvement in conservation.
