Good news: Ozone hole may disappear in 45 years!

the antarctic ozone hole

Here is a good news for the environmentalists. The ozone hole over the Antarctic, which has all through a concern for scientists, is likely to begin contracting in the future, eventually disappearing by 2050. And this is happening with the release of chlorofluorocarbons reducing, along with other ozone-depleting gases. A team of Japanese scientists reported on this repairng trend of the ozone hole.

Eiji Akiyoshi, of the National Institute for Environmental Studies near Tokyo carried out a series of numerical simulations, before making the findings. They used projected emissions of chlorofluorocarbons and other gases responsible for the ozone hole to conclude on the study.

The Web site of the institute reported on the study on Friday that the hole is likely to gradually start contracting around 2020, eventually disappearing by around 2050, although it is at its largest now.
