Global warming may turn poison ivy more poisonous!

effects of poison ivy

Scientists have been adding on fearful after-effects of global warming. Here is another reason for one to worry of increasing temperature of the planet – it will lead to more and itchier poison ivy! Yes, that is what the researchers reported on Monday. With the rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, the baneful vine grows faster and bigger.

To add to the fear, experiments conducted in a forest at Duke University concluded that vines, whose growth is driven by carbon dioxide, produce more of its chemicals – urushiol, that causes rashes. Just think of the consequences, as carbon dioxide is the main greenhouse gas that contribute towards global warming.
