Feed birds with the New Year dinner leftovers and avoid unhygienic food decay!

christmas dinner leftovers 9You must be busy preparing for the New Year party by now! But, did you prepare for where to send the leftovers that will be generated at the end of the party? Dump them just to rot in the nearby landfill to produce an unhealthy and foul air? Oops! Don’t do that! Here is a solution.

Let the birds in the garden make a feast of the eve’s dinner leftovers. But, again all these leftovers are not good for the little winged creatures. Then how would you decide on what to feed the birds on!

According to The Independent, Britain’s Royal Society for the Protection of Birds have released a list of “do’s and don’ts” for feeding Christmas leftovers to birds, which you can follow similarly for the New Year’s Eve too.

As per the list, cake and mince pies are kept high on the list of good snacks for birds. But, dried fruit and fat are not suggested as are very high energy. The house sparrows, greenfinches, tits, robins and starlings would love to feed on the unsalted snacks.

Make water available as well, as dehydration is as dangerous to birds at this time of year as starvation!
The Independent reported this as been said by The Royal Society. To avoid unwanted vermin, don’t put out cooked meats.

Following these suggestions not only will help provide the birds with food, but also make better use of the huge leftovers, relieving the landfills of the foul, decomposing dump as well.
