Extremely heavy rainfall events increasing: NASA confirms

heavy rainfall in luoyang 9

The suspicion that extremely heavy rainfall events are increasing has been confirmed by NASA with the help of a new technique. Two-thirds of the Earth is covered by oceans. Thus, it has been estimated that oceanic rainfall relies on satellite remote sensing, though, estimates of satellite rainfall are known to have large uncertainties.

But, eventually this problem has been resolved by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration scientists. To make this achievement, the scientists have used a new technique confirming that extremely heavy rainfall is indeed on the rise as been suspected.

William Lau, chief of NASA`s Laboratory for Atmospheres at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md said,

This study makes for a very compelling story in solving a science puzzle. Instead of looking at trends in total rain, we look for possible signals in different categories of rain, defined by its intensity. Its changes in the traits that make up total rainfall that are most telling, not necessarily total rainfall itself.
