Europeans Should Move Away from Kyoto Reliance: Mr. Blair Hints

Europeans should begin moving away from reliance on the Kyoto treaty to meet the goal of curbing greenhouse emissions. This idea was hinted by the British Prime Minister Tony Blair at the first day of a summit of energy and environment ministers. Should we call it a less protocol-bound and more interesting challenge that emerged from Britain? Even though the treaty set strict targets for cuts in greenhouse gases, it should atleast stabilize rather than lower greenhouse gas emissions. The United States is not going to sign it soon, and it sets no targets for fast-growing China and India. Should we call Mr. Blair’s initiative, an excellent opening for Mr. Bush or another gentle rebuke to the US President?
