Fluorescent green pigs! Chinese scientists have successfully bred pigs that are partially green! These lab-bred pigs may one day help in boosting stem cell research, according to the Xinhua news agency.

The three transgenic pigs were injected with fluorescent green protein in their embryonic stages to make them breed green. The pigment is a genetic material from jellyfish, which was injected into the womb of a sow, leading to the birth of the three pigs 114 days later in Harbin.

Professor Liu Zhonghua of the research team at the Northeast Agricultural University in Harbin said,

The mouth, trotters and tongue of the pigs are green under ultraviolet light.

It is in February 2007, the China celebrates the start of the Year of the Pig.
