Folks at Ibasei have conceived a small hydropower generator that harnesses usable renewable energy from rivers and other waterways. While conventional hydropower generators utilize a head of water to recover energy, the Cappa Compact ROR hydropower generator relies on a special housing, called diffuser, for extracting energy from flowing water.
Moreover, the installation process is extremely simple owing to the fact that you don’t need earth-moving work for doing so. The innovative diffuser ensures that water moves through the vanes to produce enough force to propel them. Thanks to a generator, a controller and a battery, the mechanism is potent enough to generate 100V AC electricity at 50/60 Hz. Five such hydropower generators can produce about 1kW of electricity with water flowing at 2.0m/s through each of them.
Another green factor that makes Cappa a powerful, sustainable tool is its recyclability. Considering the point that it doesn’t produce much energy, it still can be used to provide green charge to EVs or installations. Finally yet importantly, the generator is in its testing stage, so we can hope it hitting production line by the Q2, 2013.
