California sues six carmakers on greenhouse gas emission

co2 emissions from californias traffic

According to the state of California, the cars of the six carmakers — General Motors, Toyota, Ford, Honda, Chrysler and Nissan – are emitting greenhouse gases to the extent that they are damaging health and environment, hence also the region’s economy.

As about one-third of California’s CO2 emissions come from traffic, the state of California is suing all these six carmakers for costs associated with their cars’ greenhouse gas emissions.

But, calling the suit a ‘nuisance’, the pan-industry body Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers has suggested it may be dismissed.
