Book Review: The hungry planet eating itself

If you really wish to have a widespread perception on the global situation, piece together multitudes of close-ups and have a thorough look of the people profiles. When it is not possible for you to do, then grab ‘Hungry Planet’, by Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio who, I think, have really been hungry the way they have compiled the profiles of thirty families from around the world, with eye-catching photographic essays and black and white account of each family’s weekly food intake. The minuteness and description of the book’s compilation is so enthralling and stunning it almost reveals each fast fact of the compiled families.

The structural frame of the book is consisted with a series of full-page photographs of each family posed around their entire week’s worth of food purchases, and each of the image has a gripping on its own, comprising concentrated visual description depicting the cultural and commercial context of the families.
