Yesterday, we told you how the Cracking Art Group has installed several recycled plastic snail sculptures to help Duoma cathedral return to normalcy. Several eco artists now aim to take the green move further, though in a different country. French artists, namely Marie-Hélène Richard, Vincent Leroy, Richard, Stéphan Bohu and Shigeko Kirakawa have created four eco art installations in French cities for observing the yearlong celebrations to mark the International Year of Chemistry.
Collectively labeled as L’art et la Matiére, translated as Art in Matter, the art installations include Rosae Plasticae, Champ Mécanique, Sph’air and Hélioflore. While Rosae Plasticae features 12,000 roses made from recycled plastic bags, Champ Mécanique is a field of ‘weeds’ focusing on Green Chemistry theme. Sph’air flaunts 120 big white balloons that lay emphasis on Air Quality. Shigeko Hirakawa’s Hélioflore is a large mechanical flower, featuring petals embedded with solar panels.
Thus, with a definite aim to raise awareness of environmental issues, the eco art installations display how human interference has a direct impact on our planet’s health.
