With his aim to evade the boundaries between beauty and shadowy aspects of everyday objects, artist Andrew Myers offers us enough reason to admire his creativity. Normally, he utilizes discarded stuff to create his works of art, such as sculptures and paintings. However, for composing his screw art, he ditches low-grade materials for upcycled nails, which play with shadows to create unique 3D portraits.
The California-based artist has just released some new images from his new screw art series. The consummately executed 3D portraits, collectively labeled as “We Don’t Belong in the Shadows”, are made using 2,000 screws, paint, wood and phone book pages. However, viewers need to see in and around each portrait closely to perceive the contours of each face.
